Ragdoll cats

Ragdolls are famous for going floppy when held (not every individual does this on cue) and for a laid-back, people-oriented personality. They're often kept as indoor cats - partly temperament, partly safety for a trusting breed.

Temperament

Many Ragdolls are:

"Laid-back" is not "indifferent." They often want to be with you, and some dislike long solitude. Trusting natures mean they may not have strong street sense if allowed to roam.

Caveats

Who it's for

People seeking a cuddly, indoor-friendly companion who will brush the coat and provide company. Less ideal if you want a fierce outdoor hunter personality, or if cuddles-on-demand are expected regardless of the cat's mood.

Indoor life done properly

Because so many Ragdolls are kept indoors, plan the environment like a small territory: multiple rest spots, a tall scratch post, and at least one sunny window perch. Schedule play even if they seem sleepy - gentle breeds still need muscle tone and mental variety. If children want a cuddle, teach them to invite the cat over rather than scooping without consent; respect keeps the famous sweetness intact.
